How was Black Friday/Cyber Monday? Whether you stocked up on fantastic deals (or steered clear of the hullaballoo), I hope you got everything you wanted from it and nothing you didn't!

I fared pretty well this year. I had a scaled down list of business items as well as personal items which I was hoping to get and was able to pick up a few of the things I wanted.
​
Some subscriptions I was hoping to get didn't go on sale which was a bummer but if something's really good, then they're worth buying, regardless of whether they're on sale.
​
I was able to avoid buying some head swiveling items that caught my eye using the "sticky" test. Meaning, it has to be memorable enough that I can't stop thinking about it AND made me extremely happy that I bought it afterwards. (That component is the tricky part!)
​
I try to apply this tactic to all of my shopping outings. Be it online, or in person. Here's how it works:

I see the thing that interests me. Unless it's an item that's about to sell out (ie: the last of its kind crafty handmade item at a farmer's market that I was hoping to buy anyway) I never buy straightaway. I'll leave it and marinate on whether I need it or not - and by the time, I'm ready to leave, if it's not in the forefront of my mind, then my wallet is safe. If I can't stop thinking about it, I'll circle back and decide if I want to pick it up.

Case in point: Last week at the One of a Kind show, I came across this super cute robot which I instantly fell in love with. Maybe it was because it brought back childhood memories. Do you remember Grape Crush? Or Cream Soda? 😍

I spied it on the shelf, took a cursory glance and then walked away. I thought about it during the show and then came back at the end to decide if I was going to bring her home with me.
​
She was so cute and colorful, but ultimately, I decided not to get her. Why? Of course, price was a factor. For $25, it would have been a no brainer, but not for $125. Even though it was hand made and very pretty, it didn't serve a purpose.
​
I couldn't think of a place to put her and thinking about where I shoehorn her in...well, it didn't spark joy. It made me anxious thinking how this would create clutter.
​
If I had a new shelf with lots of spots that needed fun items, it would have been perfect, but it just wasn't the right time. That's the other thing about buying. Timing is everything.
​
Since then, I haven't felt bad about not buying her in the slightest, so I know it was the right call.
