If you've been wondering where I've been all this time, last month I went for my regular walk with my seniors. Mind you, they all walk a lot faster than me and are usually waiting for me to catch up as I tend to straggle since I take so many photos.
​
We were almost back to the parking lot when I took a hard fall on a steep hill and got my legs knocked out from under me. I went airborne and hit the ground in what probably looked like a cartoon fall and then slid down the mountain a couple feet. I didn't understand what had happened until I noticed a little nest of acorns that were the culprit
​
It’s kind of like what happened to Gina Gershon in Showgirls. If you’re familiar with that campy so-bad-it’s-good film you know the scene where she gets taken out by a bunch of marbles and is hospitalized and put out of commission for the lead in the big show.
​
It’s so funny as I was in the middle of telling a friend how much I love acorns, I imagined a cute squirrel wearing an acorn hat and mentioned I wanted to create an image using A.I.. Then a few moments later, I went splat.
​
Maybe those squirrels were eavesdropping and didn’t care for the idea of being portrayed in a less than stately manner. Oh sure, that might be a stretch, but I have another theory.
​
If you’ve ever walked by a squirrel’s nest where they keep their stash of yummy treats, you’ll hear a distinct chittering. You'd think it was a bird if you didn't know better, but it’s actually a squirrel telling you to eff off and keep moving.
​
Right now, there’s acorns everywhere. They’re practically blanketing the trails, so there’s too much bounty to go around for these furry hoarders. I imagine them taking these acorns and creating little “move along” traps. Too close to their stash? There’s an acorn stripper marbled trap for that.
​
Usually when I refer to the term “pulling a Showgirls” I think of that iconic scene where a girl gets pushed down the stairs, but now, forevermore, those little bastard acorns are forever going to be known as nature’s stripper marbles. I’ll always envision a squirrel sitting gleefully with his acorn, joyful that he’s taken out one of those silly humans that’s dared to threaten his nut stash.
​
So be wary of those clever squirrels, and keep your eye and proceed with extreme caution on those highly dangerous stripper marbles when you’re out on the trail and be hyper aware of your surroundings. Definitely don't be looking at your phone because this is actually quite dangerous.
​
I hope my insight into stripper marble safety helps save a fellow showgirl. 💃

So in this case, I guess that makes me Gina Gershon's character. Of course, I'm neither hospitalized nor a stripper, but between the five months I had pneumonia earlier this year and this setback, I haven't been able to be as productive as usual and I really could use your support.
