Perplexity is offering a full year of their Pro subscription totally free! The catch? You need to connect your Paypal account. You can cancel right before payment is due near the end of the 12 month billing cycle, so I suggest setting up a calendar reminder. I signed up and have been experimenting and have been happy with the results so far.

Perplexity focuses more on deep research rather than pulling random information (think ChatGPT's usage of Reddit) so it contains accurate information. It also uses a bunch of different models which includes Chat GPT 5, so this may be the perfect time to ditch your paid Open AI subscription!

One issue is you can't use any custom GPT's that exist in Chatty in Perplexity. This might not be a deal breaker for some but you could always use both? I mean it's free so I figured, why not try it? Even though it purports to be better for deep research, you can also create images! I asked for a themed website banner and font based on a prompt I gave it and it gave me the above image. Not bad right?
