Case and point. Nantes, Frances. July, 2014. We were in town for three days to shoot a story on giant mechanical puppets for Discovery Channel. (If you ever have a chance to visit, I suggest you go. I liked it more than Paris, which is saying a lot!) After we wrapped our shoot the following day, I had the opportunity to walk around this beautiful, canal city and came across a little clothing boutique tucked away in an artery of cobblestone pedestrian-only walkways.

Inside, I found the perfect leather jacket. I couldn't have imagined a nicer one if I had designed it myself. It was different than anything I'd ever seen before - and the price was wildly reasonable. 125 Euros!

Instead of snatching it up, I left without it. Why? Because it was the first store I visited and the very first thing I came across in the store. I figured that if everything was this amazing in this magical city, there might be something better awaiting me so I kept looking.

Well, I never found anything better than that buttery soft jacket. Not in Nantes, or anywhere else in the world since that day. By the time I realized my mistake, the store was closed and we were leaving the next morning before the shops opened.
​
Moral of the story: If there's something that comes along that lights you up which you've been wishing for, don't turn your back on it in hopes you'll find something better. It's a gift from the universe. Honor your desires and lean into them because you might never get that opportunity again.
